Scopes

You will need authorization for the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/cloud-platform scope to make a valid call.

If unset, the scope for this method defaults to https://www.googleapis.com/auth/cloud-platform. You can set the scope for this method like this: retail2 --scope <scope> projects locations-catalogs-branches-products-patch ...

Required Scalar Argument

  • <name> (string)
    • Immutable. Full resource name of the product, such as projects/*/locations/global/catalogs/default_catalog/branches/default_branch/products/product_id.

Required Request Value

The request value is a data-structure with various fields. Each field may be a simple scalar or another data-structure. In the latter case it is advised to set the field-cursor to the data-structure's field to specify values more concisely.

For example, a structure like this:

GoogleCloudRetailV2Product:
  audience:
    age-groups: [string]
    genders: [string]

  sizes: [string]
  tags: [string]
  title: string
  ttl: string
  type: string
  uri: string

can be set completely with the following arguments which are assumed to be executed in the given order. Note how the cursor position is adjusted to the respective structures, allowing simple field names to be used most of the time.

  • -r .audience age-groups=sed
    • The age groups of the audience. Strongly encouraged to use the standard values: "newborn" (up to 3 months old), "infant" (3–12 months old), "toddler" (1–5 years old), "kids" (5–13 years old), "adult" (typically teens or older). At most 5 values are allowed. Each value must be a UTF-8 encoded string with a length limit of 128 characters. Otherwise, an INVALID_ARGUMENT error is returned. • Each invocation of this argument appends the given value to the array.
  • categories=et
    • Product categories. This field is repeated for supporting one product belonging to several parallel categories. Strongly recommended using the full path for better search / recommendation quality. To represent full path of category, use '>' sign to separate different hierarchies. If '>' is part of the category name, replace it with other character(s). For example, if a shoes product belongs to both ["Shoes & Accessories" -> "Shoes"] and ["Sports & Fitness" -> "Athletic Clothing" -> "Shoes"], it could be represented as: "categories": [ "Shoes & Accessories > Shoes", "Sports & Fitness > Athletic Clothing > Shoes" ] Must be set for Type.PRIMARY Product otherwise an INVALID_ARGUMENT error is returned. At most 250 values are allowed per Product unless overridden via pantheon UI. Empty values are not allowed. Each value must be a UTF-8 encoded string with a length limit of 5,000 characters. Otherwise, an INVALID_ARGUMENT error is returned. Corresponding properties: Google Merchant Center property google_product_category. Normally it is expected to have only 1 color family. May consider using single "Mixed" instead of multiple values. A maximum of 5 values are allowed. Each value must be a UTF-8 encoded string with a length limit of 128 characters. Otherwise, an INVALID_ARGUMENT error is returned. Google Merchant Center property color. Schema.org property Product.color.
    • Each invocation of this argument appends the given value to the array.
  • colors=est

    • The color display names, which may be different from standard color family names, such as the color aliases used in the website frontend. Normally it is expected to have only 1 color. • Note that this field is applied in the following ways: * If the Product is already expired when it is uploaded, this product is not indexed for search. * If the Product is not expired when it is uploaded, only the Type.PRIMARY's and Type.COLLECTION's expireTime is respected, and Type.VARIANT's expireTime is not used. In general, we suggest the users to delete the stale products explicitly, instead of using this field to determine staleness. expire_time must be later than available_time and publish_time, otherwise an INVALID_ARGUMENT error is thrown. Corresponding properties: Google Merchant Center property expiration_date.

It defaults to "en-US" if unset.
  • materials=no
    • The material of the product. For example, "leather", "wooden". A maximum of 20 values are allowed. Each value must be a UTF-8 encoded string with a length limit of 200 characters. • Price of the product. Google Merchant Center property price. Schema.org property Offer.price.
  • price-effective-time=aliquyam
    • The timestamp when the price starts to be effective. This can be set as a future timestamp, and the price is only used for search after price_effective_time. • List of rating counts per rating value (index = rating - 1). The list is empty if there is no rating. If the list is non-empty, its size is always 5. Otherwise, an INVALID_ARGUMENT error is returned. For example, [41, 14, 13, 47, 303]. It means that the Product got 41 ratings with 1 star, 14 ratings with 2 star, and so on.
    • Each invocation of this argument appends the given value to the array.
  • .. retrievable-fields=sed

    • Indicates which fields in the Products are returned in SearchResponse. Supported fields for all types: * audience * availability * brands * color_info * conditions * gtin * materials * name * patterns * price_info * rating * sizes * title * uri Supported fields only for Type.PRIMARY and Type.COLLECTION: * categories * description * images Supported fields only for Type.VARIANT: * Only the first image in images To mark attributes as retrievable, include paths of the form "attributes.key" where "key" is the key of a custom attribute, as specified in attributes. For Type.PRIMARY and Type.COLLECTION, the following fields are always returned in SearchResponse by default: * name For Type.VARIANT, the following fields are always returned in by default: * name * color_info The maximum number of paths is 30. Otherwise, an INVALID_ARGUMENT error is returned. Note: Returning more fields in SearchResponse can increase response payload size and serving latency. This field is deprecated. Use the retrievable site-wide control instead.
  • sizes=eos
    • The size of the product. To represent different size systems or size types, consider using this format: [[[size_system:]size_type:]size_value]. For example, in "US:MENS:M", "US" represents size system; "MENS" represents size type; "M" represents size value. In "GIRLS:27", size system is empty; "GIRLS" represents size type; "27" represents size value. In "32 inches", both size system and size type are empty, while size value is "32 inches". A maximum of 20 values are allowed per Product. Each value must be a UTF-8 encoded string with a length limit of 128 characters. Otherwise, an INVALID_ARGUMENT error is returned. Corresponding properties: Google Merchant Center property size, size_type, and size_system. Schema.org property Product.size.
    • Each invocation of this argument appends the given value to the array.
  • tags=lorem
    • Custom tags associated with the product. At most 250 values are allowed per Product. This value must be a UTF-8 encoded string with a length limit of 1,000 characters. In general, we suggest the users to delete the stale products explicitly, instead of using this field to determine staleness. If it is set, it must be a non-negative value, and expire_time is set as current timestamp plus ttl. The derived expire_time is returned in the output and ttl is left blank when retrieving the Product. If it is set, the product is not available for SearchService.Search after current timestamp plus ttl. However, the product can still be retrieved by ProductService.GetProduct and ProductService.ListProducts.
  • type=dolores
    • Immutable. The type of the product. Default to Catalog.product_level_config.ingestion_product_type if unset.
  • uri=eos
    • Canonical URL directly linking to the product detail page. It is strongly recommended to provide a valid uri for the product, otherwise the service performance could be significantly degraded. This field must be a UTF-8 encoded string with a length limit of 5,000 characters. Otherwise, an INVALID_ARGUMENT error is returned. Corresponding properties: Google Merchant Center property link. Schema.org property Offer.url.

About Cursors

The cursor position is key to comfortably set complex nested structures. The following rules apply:

  • The cursor position is always set relative to the current one, unless the field name starts with the . character. Fields can be nested such as in -r f.s.o .
  • The cursor position is set relative to the top-level structure if it starts with ., e.g. -r .s.s
  • You can also set nested fields without setting the cursor explicitly. For example, to set a value relative to the current cursor position, you would specify -r struct.sub_struct=bar.
  • You can move the cursor one level up by using ... Each additional . moves it up one additional level. E.g. ... would go three levels up.

Optional Output Flags

The method's return value a JSON encoded structure, which will be written to standard output by default.

  • -o out
    • out specifies the destination to which to write the server's result to. It will be a JSON-encoded structure. The destination may be - to indicate standard output, or a filepath that is to contain the received bytes. If unset, it defaults to standard output.

Optional Method Properties

You may set the following properties to further configure the call. Please note that -p is followed by one or more key-value-pairs, and is called like this -p k1=v1 k2=v2 even though the listing below repeats the -p for completeness.

  • -p allow-missing=boolean

    • If set to true, and the Product is not found, a new Product will be created. In this situation, update_mask is ignored.
  • -p update-mask=string

    • Indicates which fields in the provided Product to update. The immutable and output only fields are NOT supported. If not set, all supported fields (the fields that are neither immutable nor output only) are updated. If an unsupported or unknown field is provided, an INVALID_ARGUMENT error is returned. The attribute key can be updated by setting the mask path as "attributes.${key_name}". If a key name is present in the mask but not in the patching product from the request, this key will be deleted after the update.

Optional General Properties

The following properties can configure any call, and are not specific to this method.

  • -p $-xgafv=string

    • V1 error format.
  • -p access-token=string

    • OAuth access token.
  • -p alt=string

    • Data format for response.
  • -p callback=string

  • -p oauth-token=string

    • OAuth 2.0 token for the current user.
  • -p pretty-print=boolean

    • Returns response with indentations and line breaks.

  • -p upload-type=string

    • Legacy upload protocol for media (e.g. "media", "multipart").
  • -p upload-protocol=string

    • Upload protocol for media (e.g. "raw", "multipart").
