Updates a Group.

Scopes

You will need authorization for at least one of the following scopes to make a valid call:

  • https://www.googleapis.com/auth/cloud-platform

If unset, the scope for this method defaults to https://www.googleapis.com/auth/cloud-identity.groups. You can set the scope for this method like this: cloudidentity1 --scope <scope> groups patch ...

Required Scalar Argument

  • <name> (string)
    • Output only. The resource name of the Group. Shall be of the form groups/{group}.

Required Request Value

The request value is a data-structure with various fields. Each field may be a simple scalar or another data-structure. In the latter case it is advised to set the field-cursor to the data-structure's field to specify values more concisely.

For example, a structure like this:

Group:
  create-time: string
  description: string
  display-name: string
  dynamic-group-metadata:
    status:
      status: string
      status-time: string
  group-key:
    id: string
    namespace: string
  labels: { string: string }
  name: string
  parent: string
  update-time: string

can be set completely with the following arguments which are assumed to be executed in the given order. Note how the cursor position is adjusted to the respective structures, allowing simple field names to be used most of the time.

  • -r . create-time=sed
    • Output only. The time when the Group was created.
  • description=takimata
    • An extended description to help users determine the purpose of a Group. Must not be longer than 4,096 characters.
  • display-name=dolores
    • The display name of the Group.
  • dynamic-group-metadata.status status=gubergren
    • Status of the dynamic group.
  • status-time=et

    • The latest time at which the dynamic group is guaranteed to be in the given status. If status is UP_TO_DATE, the latest time at which the dynamic group was confirmed to be up-to-date. If status is UPDATING_MEMBERSHIPS, the time at which dynamic group was created.
  • ...group-key id=accusam

    • The ID of the entity. For Google-managed entities, the id should be the email address of an existing group or user. Email addresses need to adhere to name guidelines for users and groups. For external-identity-mapped entities, the id must be a string conforming to the Identity Source's requirements. Must be unique within a namespace.
  • namespace=voluptua.

    • The namespace in which the entity exists. If not specified, the EntityKey represents a Google-managed entity such as a Google user or a Google Group. If specified, the EntityKey represents an external-identity-mapped group. The namespace must correspond to an identity source created in Admin Console and must be in the form of identitysources/{identity_source}.
  • .. labels=key=dolore

    • Required. One or more label entries that apply to the Group. Currently supported labels contain a key with an empty value. Google Groups are the default type of group and have a label with a key of cloudidentity.googleapis.com/groups.discussion_forum and an empty value. Existing Google Groups can have an additional label with a key of cloudidentity.googleapis.com/groups.security and an empty value added to them. This is an immutable change and the security label cannot be removed once added. Dynamic groups have a label with a key of cloudidentity.googleapis.com/groups.dynamic. Identity-mapped groups for Cloud Search have a label with a key of system/groups/external and an empty value.
    • the value will be associated with the given key
  • name=dolore
    • Output only. The resource name of the Group. Shall be of the form groups/{group}.
  • parent=dolore
    • Required. Immutable. The resource name of the entity under which this Group resides in the Cloud Identity resource hierarchy. Must be of the form identitysources/{identity_source} for external identity-mapped groups or customers/{customer_id} for Google Groups. The customer_id must begin with "C" (for example, 'C046psxkn'). • update-time=voluptua.
    • Output only. The time when the Group was last updated.

About Cursors

The cursor position is key to comfortably set complex nested structures. The following rules apply:

  • The cursor position is always set relative to the current one, unless the field name starts with the . character. Fields can be nested such as in -r f.s.o .
  • The cursor position is set relative to the top-level structure if it starts with ., e.g. -r .s.s
  • You can also set nested fields without setting the cursor explicitly. For example, to set a value relative to the current cursor position, you would specify -r struct.sub_struct=bar.
  • You can move the cursor one level up by using ... Each additional . moves it up one additional level. E.g. ... would go three levels up.

Optional Output Flags

The method's return value a JSON encoded structure, which will be written to standard output by default.

  • -o out
    • out specifies the destination to which to write the server's result to. It will be a JSON-encoded structure. The destination may be - to indicate standard output, or a filepath that is to contain the received bytes. If unset, it defaults to standard output.

Optional Method Properties

You may set the following properties to further configure the call. Please note that -p is followed by one or more key-value-pairs, and is called like this -p k1=v1 k2=v2 even though the listing below repeats the -p for completeness.

  • -p update-mask=string
    • Required. The names of fields to update. May only contain the following field names: display_name, description, labels.

Optional General Properties

The following properties can configure any call, and are not specific to this method.

  • -p $-xgafv=string

    • V1 error format.
  • -p access-token=string

    • OAuth access token.
  • -p alt=string

    • Data format for response.
  • -p callback=string

    • JSONP
  • -p fields=string

    • Selector specifying which fields to include in a partial response.
  • -p key=string

    • API key. Your API key identifies your project and provides you with API access, quota, and reports. Required unless you provide an OAuth 2.0 token.
  • -p oauth-token=string

    • OAuth 2.0 token for the current user.
  • -p pretty-print=boolean

    • Returns response with indentations and line breaks.
  • -p quota-user=string

  • -p upload-type=string

    • Legacy upload protocol for media (e.g. "media", "multipart").
  • -p upload-protocol=string

    • Upload protocol for media (e.g. "raw", "multipart").
